Eighteen year old Katarina is from Coquitlam, British Columbia. She has two younger siblings, and grew up in a very cultural Croatian family. Fluent in three languages: English, French and Croatian; she has also maintained First Class Honours all throughout high-school and was the recipient of her school’s Leadership scholarship. She is an active member of the student council and track team. She has won various academic awards, and hopes to pursue a career as a Pediatrician because of her love and care for children. She dreams to one day work for Doctors without Borders. Katarina will be studying at Simon Fraser University in the Molecular Biology and Biochemistry program this fall. Her friends and family describe her as humble, hardworking and outgoing. As a hobby she enjoys running and sewing. Katarina is passionate about helping others. Whether it be volunteering at the senior care home, the soup kitchen, as a dance teacher or as a peer tutor, she is always keeping busy with community service to help make a difference in people’s lives. She continues to show the importance of helping one another and appreciating the simple things in life.
