I am excited about the upcoming year and all that I'll be doing in my community, across the country and with Free the Children. The experience in competing and becoming Miss Teen Canada-World has been fabulous and I know this next year will be unbelievable.

How old do I have to be to enter?
Contestant must be between the ages of 13-19 years of age

Do I have to be born in Canada?
You must be either a Canadian citizen by birth or naturalization, a landed or permanent resident or must show proof of forgoing.

Do I have to have proof of age and citizenship?
Proof of citizenship is required through birth certificate, certificate of citizenship, passport etc.

I am only 5' 3", and have been told I cannot model, so does that mean I cannot win?
Height has no bearing on the competition. Being 5' 1" is beautiful and so is being 5' 11", it is about being your best.

What is a Provincial Title, and what are Regional's?
Regionals are the competitions held in each province to select the national delegates who compete for the title of MTC-W. A provincial title is awarded to the finalists of each province. Ex. Miss Teen Alberta-World, Miss Teen Winnipeg-World, Miss Teen York Region-World, Miss Teen Toronto-World. Each finalist receives a sash and crown and will reign for 1 year in her city.

What is the difference between Regionals and Nationals?
Regionals are held in each province to select the national finalists. At the regionals there are several winners. All winners receive a title, sash and crown. Regional pageant delegates all reside in the province. It is a two day pageant held on the weekend. The national pageant is 1 week long and the contestants are all the regional winners from across Canada. The Nationals is where the title Miss Teen Canada-World is awarded.

Explain how city titles are determined, verse province titles?
Titles are awarded according to ranking in the scores and where each finalist resides. Overall winners become Miss Teen Canada-World of their province and the remaining finalist's titles are determined according to where they are located.

I do not have any experience? And what are my responsibilities?
You do not need experience that is where MTC-W workshops come in. Competing for a provincial title like Miss Teen Nova Scotia- world comes with a wide range of responsibilities from developing your platform, to creating local publicity and building a fan base. We are here to guide you the whole way through.

Do I have to be in school?
You must be enrolled in or a graduate of High School or in Elementary school

Do I need to be bilingual?
While being bilingual is an asset it is not a requirement. Translators will be provided at the national level and Quebec provincial will be in French.

How are contestants judged?
There are several levels of scoring for the Pageant. Each area represents a percentage of your total score. You are judged on your personality, your ability to communicate, stage presence, charm, academics, commitment to the community, beauty, fitness and confidence. MTC-W delegates have the "IT" factor. They command a room and can lead the youth of tomorrow.

I got into some trouble with the law
Contestant must be of good moral character, have no explicit photos on the internet and no criminal record

I have a child
Contestant may not be married, divorced, had a marriage annulled, nor given birth to a child. Contestant must attest that she was born a female.

I am represented by a modeling agency.
You may have an agent for film, television and modeling but you can not be bound by any agreement preventing you from signing and performing the Contestant Contract

What are the steps I need to take to be MTC-W?

  • Participate in your Provinces Pageant - and be a finalist
